By Jeffrey Peel - I had an email and phone call from Anton Mannering of the all-Island Digital Media Network and thought crea8ivity.com readers may be interested in registering for the network.  Anton and I are also kicking around some ideas about a Dublin seminar, in conjunction with the network, that we can tell you more about later in the year.

Anton will help connect you with companies or individuals within the extensive network - if you sign up. From time to time he will contact about events and updates about what’s going on within the network; he may also contact you about potential commercial opportunities as well.

Registering ensures that the network has correct information about you and your business.

Let me know, through comments on this post, about your experiences with the Network.

Digital NIBy Jeffrey Peel - A new site has been launched that is showcasing the best local Web 2.0 sites.  And I’m delighted to see that Crea8ivity.com is one of the sites listed.  Sites are categorized by Computer & Internet, Education, Media etc.  and feature thumbnails and descriptors of each site.  Check out the site: Northern Ireland Digital Content Showcase.

By Jeffrey Peel - Channel 4 announced its new digital media initiative, 4IP, 3 months ago.  At the core of the initiative is a £50m fund for projects that offer publicly valuable content on digital media platforms. I have just received further information from Channel 4 about plans and next steps for 4IP.

According to Channel 4, “In the last few months we’ve been busy tying up partnerships and we are currently in advanced negotiations with Screen West Midlands, Yorkshire Forward, Scottish Screen, and Northern Ireland Screen. Partnership is at the heart of 4IP and we are also in discussions with a range of other public sector, media, financial and technology organisations. We are  also recruiting the 4IP team and hope to make announcements soon about appointments.

“From 2nd July, potential suppliers will be given an opportunity to register their interest and ask questions about the 4IP fund at http://channel4.com/4ip. We will keep the site updated with information on how to submit ideas, the range of projects we are looking for, as well as how our partnership arrangements work. Throughout July & August, the Channel 4 team will be taking part in a number of activities and events across the country - including sponsoring 2gether, a new festival taking place in London in July - in order to talk broadly about Channel 4’s ambitions for digital media and engage informally with some of the people who may want to submit ideas and look for funding from 4IP when we launch in September.

“The official 4IP launch will involve a range of events (currently planned for 17-25 September) at which we will outline our vision for the fund, introduce our partners and provide examples of the type of projects 4IP will be looking to invest in. We will also begin actively soliciting ideas and responding to proposals.”

As and when I receive more information I’ll post it here.  But be sure to check out the 4IP micro-site for the latest.

Short notice I know but this is not to be be missed if you’re a Web 2.o Geek…

TechCrunch is coming to TechLudd on the 26th of June in Dublin.

The event is on upstairs in 4 Dame Lane in Dublin. Mike Butcher of TechCrunch UK and Ireland will be there and he wants to talk to startups and get a feel for the ecosystem here. So it’s a great opportunity for companies in both RoI and NI to get exposure in one of the best read tech blogs around.

Here are the event details…

Big Word Guys Live!

The two students behind the Big Word Project attended the Quadriga Consulting Web 2.0 Marketing Seminar yesterday.  This was a great opportunity for Mairin Murray of Waddell Media to record a quick interview on her Nokia N-Series phone.

We need to keep crea8ivity.com up to date now it’s the responsibility of the community of digital content players here.  So here’s your chance to air your views, get things off your chest, or write an academic treatise on all things creative and digital.  Get those fingers tapping and submit your story ideas.  Be as provocative as you like - in fact the more provocative the better (keeping it legal would be good though).  Just visit our contact page and starting submitting.  You know you want to!

Ideally we want shortish, punchy posts - although we can feature longer pieces as appendices.  Have a go at 300 - 400 words and we can feature as a post.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Mashups - give us some examples of great ones you’ve come across or ones you want to develop
  • Personalities - who is the latest, most edgy, Rails developer out there (perhaps it’s you?)
  • What’s happening?  Tell us about upcoming events.
  • Who’s movin’ and shakin’?
  • What do you think of Twitter?
  • Other stuff…come on!Â
